-- ANTI-BULLYING PROGRAM for children --
Emin Boztepe Martial Arts System -- EBMAS NYC school included -- has developed a highly effective children's and anti-bullying program. Karate and Tae Kwon Do are not unique in offering martial arts for children.
Dai Sifu Emin Boztepe (founder of EBMAS) designed this program exclusively for children (recommended ages are 6 - 14). All EBMAS schools globally base their teachings on this Wing Tzun Junior Program. (The program fundamentals can be applied to Latosa Escrima as well.)
The EBMAS Junior Program emphasizes that even children can be taught realistic self-defense. The program combines forms, techniques and fun exercises with reality based self-defense. We train children to recognize problematic situations and make the simplest but correct solutions.
For example: If a child were approached by a stranger, we teach them to always look for an adult, police or fireman and try to run to a public area, avoiding deserted places. If they were to be grabbed or attacked by an adult, screaming and yelling mixed with rapid punches and kicks would surprise the attacker and can win a child time to run.

Anti-Bullying
In our anti-bullying program, we educate children in how to choose the right response during a confrontation. We make them understand that before actual physical contact takes place, there are other options available which should be attempted. Even at an early age, a child can be taught to read body language and identify potentially threatening behavior so they can avoid confrontation before it begins. If a situation were to escalate (they are attacked), their response must be equal to the degree of the attack. For example, they cannot start punching and kicking wildly simply because a classmate pushes them in the hallway. Children must -- and under our program, will -- understand that every action has consequences. |
Sifu Zsolt (George) Boka and Sihing Chris Breck (EBMAS NYC) were the first self-defense instructors invited to be part of The Buckley School after school program. The Buckley School is one of the oldest private boys school in Manhattan and this was the first time they have added Martial Arts to their famed athletic curriculum -- with great success.

Sifu George and Sihing Chris began teaching the EBMAS Junior Program four years ago (Spring of 2008) with one class a week for six 3rd graders. Today, the program has grown up to 20-30 children from 2nd grade up to 6th grade.
Under the EBMAS Junior Program, children will learn respect, discipline, problem-solving solutions and basic scientific concepts; they will also participate in different exercises such as physical strength, coordination, balance, reflex and speed.
